Going Away? #AdamAndJoe

This is one of those early summer weekends when lots of people hit the road or skies to a seemingly better but temporary place.
In recognition of that, I thought I'd pop a little holiday based noise here.
Be warned, mentility within.

From Coke Podcast Number Five.
I dare you to use a portion of this as a ringtone.

This is of course, from the second Coke Podcast. There's just a lot to laugh about and what better way to start the weekend?

To Stephen, or not to Stephen #AdamAndJoe

Any of my regular followers know that I have a particular logic-based bee-in-my-bonnet about it not being relevant to Stephen either Adam or Joe since we know they know about the show!
I had thought this was my own little brainial problem but no. When have I ever had an original thought?
It was a forgotten seed, deftly sewn by the shy and retiring Cornballs himself. I'd taken on board that he got a bit scared if he was Stephened in public but I failed to remember that he'd got a problem with the logic of 'attacking' the perpetrators of Adam and Joe Show with such a call and response. That's probably why my nose always twitches when I hear they've been 'done.

Obviously, I have been witness to countless instances of Adam enjoying the Stephen exchange and he is a beacon of inspiration in that respect. It seems to give him great pleasure so I would never discourage it where he is concerned.
The same cannot be said for Joe and I will not be cheap enough to imply it has anything to do with him being an aloof, haughty, international screenwriter and director. I really prefer to think it scares his silly but perfect, long body and the inappropriate application of it confuses him a little bit.
Just remember to Stephen responsibly.
(From 4th April 09 show)
It's amusing to hear that as long ago as the Spring of last year, fools were trying to suggest that Stephenage had run it's course. It seems more deeply ingrained in our social interactions than ever, right now.

Podcast Intro Song Day: Doctor Who Theme #AdamAndJoe

This is just a short one today. I'd hate anyone to think I spend much time doing this kind of thing.

Joe goes a bit mentile with that ludicrously agile tongue of his. I think I might just have to lie down for a few minutes.

It's OK to talk about pop on a Sunday, isn't it? #AdamAndJoe

The show from 24th January 2009 seemed to linger in the downstairs region and that's always a fun place to poke around on a Sunday with giggles from both Joe and then Adam.
I'd love to be a fly on the wall when Joe is deploying his cod language skills on the streets of France's patois-laden capital. I hope he's oblivious to the inevitable derision those Parisians must deal him.

In the second part, the final delivery of "I'm so sorry. I had no idea. I'm Adam, by the way" is the reason it's a crying shame that he's not offered better tv roles.  Given the right material, often his own, he's a genius of subtle proportions.

They were still finding their feet on 6Music for this one. That's not to say it wasn't radio gold but they're certainly not quite as relaxed as they have become nowadays. It's rather sweet and charming.

Podcast Intro day: In Leafy French #AdamAndJoe

Don't worry, it's still Monday Podcast Intro day.

It seemed appropriate for the time of year.

One of the highlights from BUG Latitude 2010 #AdamBuxton

I don't mean that, of course. It was a joyful ending, though. The whole event was wonderful and apart from a bit of appalling, aspect ratio embarrassment everyone had the most fun with a look back at some of Adam's most favourite vids.

If you think you've seen Double Rainbow, try to watch it with a crowd of people, even if they think they've seen it. It is ten times funnier for the communal experience. If you can get someone to pop it up on a big screen, in your local pub, for instance, so much the better.

Bug Trailer #AdamBuxton #AdamAndJoe

.....no Joe today. Adam is doing a special BUG at the Latitude Festival around hummus and olive time today and The Director's Cut is back at the BFI on Thursday.

6Music was in so much disarray about the next threat to their existence with a proposed cut in the license fee, that they played the wrong jingle for Collins and Herring yesterday morning. It seems the BBC will be brought to it's knees by whatever crooked means available.

Note: I had a link in here to a BUG trailer but I can't find it now. It got lost when Posterous went.

Those silly locals are still pronouncing Wymondhamincorrectly #AdamAndJoe

Yesterday, on the way to my Latitude Festival billet, I passed several signs for Wymondham which made today's sound nubbule a shoe-in.
The tones of both Joe's and Adam's voices tell so much more than the words. Adam manages to pull off an exquisite mixture of gently restrained, elder-brotherly smugness with an etherial whiff of patronising force while Joe suppresses a younger-sisterly squeal of self-righteousness.

Before anyone leaps in there with a rebuttal, I do realise that Joe is a tiny bit older than Adam. It just doesn't always seem so apparent now, does it?

.....I also realise Joe is anything but a girl.

Wherein Joe Sits Like an Uncle #AdamAndJoe

This was from Text the Nation on 21st November 09.
Listeners sent in the most unfortunately honest things they've said and regretted.
There's a jongle flop in here, a silly bit of Sarf London speakings, a listener's submission that John Smiths turned into a tv ad, an inappropriate downy remark, a ludicrous pose from Joe and a possible pubic surprise for Adam's wife.

If someone can explain to me, from Joe's description, in what way Adam thought he was sitting like an uncle, pop it in the comments. I suppose I now have a better idea of what Uncle Dave looks like and it's not really what I expected.

Saved BBC 6 Music

The BBC Trust has spoken. Heart goes out to everyone at the Asian Network and all those poor teenagers.?

The BBC Trust has rejected the BBC's plans to close the digital radio station 6 Music.
In his initial response to the BBC strategy review, BBC Trust chairman Sir Michael Lyons said that the case for the closure of 6 Music had not been made.
He said the Trust - which represents the interests of licence fee payers - would consider closing 6 Music only as part of a wider strategy on the future of digital radio.
But the Trust accepted plans to close the Asian Network, cut 25% of the online budget and close teen service Blast!
On the Andrew Marr Show on Sunday, BBC director general Mark Thompson said: "We've got big questions about the future of digital radio and one of the things I expect the Trust will say is let's look at the whole future of digital radio.
"Let's talk to commercial radio and make sure we've got a portfolio of radio stations."

Podcast Intro Day: Last Pod from Glastonbury - Ebony &Ivory #AdamAndJoe #SaveBBC6Music

Not only does this fit in nicely with my previous routine of putting a podcast intro song up here on a Monday but it's also a timely reminder that there's less than half a day to grab the final Glastonbury podcast before it disappears.

We may hear something about the demise of BBC 6Music today. 11am seems to be the favoured hour for such announcements but what do I know?

Saturday 3 July 2010

Don't panic. You're not lost really.

If you've stumbled in here via a link from Johnny Dee on today's Guardian website, then welcome, you fool.
Every day since the last Adam and Joe 6Music show aired last year,?I tried to post tiny nuggets?in an attempt to fill a void.
I stopped when Adam Buxton's Big Mixtape began because it seemed unnecessary and a little disrespectful. Since the final show in his series, the iPlayer and podcasts from Adam And Joe's amazing Glastonbury shows were enough to sate any pining squadron member.
Now that Glastonbury is fading in the memory and Adam's Mixtape is taking a break,?I may resume the 'service'.

Follow me and the entire list that the unstoppable?@WickWox has compiled under the now famous name of TwitSquadron.

Note: I try not to tweet about Adam and Joe during Collins & Herring's show.
